woman holding jaw in painHave you ever noticed a clicking in your jaw when you open or close it? Or do you find your jaw to be painful at times? It could be a result of TMD.

Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJD, or “TMD” for short) is a condition that involves the function of your primary jaw joint.

Symptoms often include:

  • Popping, clicking or locking of the jaw
  • Headaches
  • Muscle pain
  • Abnormal tooth wear

If an abnormality is present in the jaw or the bite of your teeth, it can cause symptoms of TMD disorder to develop.

How is TMD Treated?

We will assess the function of your TMD during your exam to determine whether or not it is functioning properly. Several types of TMD disorders can be addressed through non-surgical methods, such as bite splint therapy or orthodontics.
