The Brisbane City’s Botanic Gardens are a heritage listed botanic garden located on the riverside in Brisbane, Queensland. The Botanic Gardens is the oldest botanical garden still in operation in Australia and has been a tourist attraction for over 150 years.
The gardens were established by citizens of Brisbane as part of an initiative to beautify the city during the 1860s. The gardens are open to visitors from dawn to dusk every day of the year at no charge and offer free guided tours on weekends and public holidays from 10am-11.30am.

The Brisbane City Botanic Gardens offer a convenient, safe, beautiful oasis for all. It is one of the world’s most beautiful botanic gardens and a perfect spot for reflection or a family outing.
It has over 8000 plants, including some rare and endangered species from Australia and around the world that are not found anywhere else. The Gardens include an amazing array of plant specimens – from Australian rainforest to desert plants to temperate forest – as well as an award-winning Scenic Railway Garden with 18 themed gardens along its tracks including:
- Bamboo Grove
- Jemmy Morrill and the Brolgas sculpture
- Ornamental ponds
- River frontage and Riverstage
The Botanic Gardens are well-signposted, not far from Museum of Brisbane and you can easily walk from there to our dental practice in the centre of Brisbane.
