Howard Smith Wharves Brisbane is a space that was once used as a shipping dock. The space has been revamped and now includes art, restaurants, and bars.

The precinct is situated between Brisbane’s CBD and South Bank Parklands not far from Brisbane City Botanic Gardens. It is the only place where you can enjoy the sights of Brisbane’s iconic CBD, the beautiful Brisbane River and picturesque Kangaroo Point Cliffs.
Named after Howard Smith, a pioneer who built a wharf in 1883.

In 1986, it was once an integral part of the city’s maritime trade. It was a major hub for cargo, passenger transport and freight movements between Queensland and overseas destinations. It is due to this history that the project planners have made sure to preserve its heritage in the design of the new waterfront precinct.

There are many revitalized spaces in Brisbane, but Howard Smith Wharves Brisbane is unique because of its close proximity to Brisbane’s CBD and its rich history in Queensland’s maritime trade!

With the prime riverfront views and city vistas under the Story Bridge, it is a trendy hub built off the rich history of the pre-1940 Port of Brisbane.

Howard Smith Wharves embraces both its dramatic natural setting and significant heritage elements including four state heritage-listed buildings, to establish a world-class destination that has activated a previously underutilised space. It has became an award-winning tourist destination with its many specialty retailers that sell souvenirs for tourists to take home as well as the many award winning restaurants and food outlets.

Sometimes after work we hop on a city cat or on a summers afternoon we can stroll down the City Reach Boardwalk from our dental clinic in Brisbane City.
