Give your teeth some TLC with an oral hygiene check-up and professional clean at Brisbane Dentist “Excellence in Dentistry”

Are you concerned about the condition of your teeth and the health of your mouth?

At our Brisbane dental clinic, we offer a comprehensive oral hygiene service that ensures that any potential problems with your teeth and gums are detected early on and preventative measures are taken to avoid more serious health implications further down the track.

Prevention is better than cure

We recommend that patients visit the oral hygienist every six months to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Doing so can prevent the formation of oral problems such as dental cavities and gum disease, which accounts for one third of tooth loss amongst adults. Depending on your individual dental history and needs, an appointment at the oral hygienist may include the following services:

Diagnostic

The oral hygienist will first examine the mouth to identify any potential problems with the teeth and gums. An X-ray may also be taken to detect dental cavities. Any previous dental restorations will usually be evaluated, and your bite, chewing and swallowing patterns checked. If required, the hygienist will then make a diagnosis of any issues and develop a comprehensive treatment plan.

Preventative

A thorough clean and scale of the teeth will then be performed to remove any plaque that may be left behind after brushing and flossing. If necessary, the hygienist may also apply a sealant to the teeth to prevent decay. They will then remove any stains from the tooth surface before finally polishing the teeth and any fillings and/or crowns.

Educational

The hygienist may then offer some instruction in the correct brushing and flossing of the teeth, as well as provide nutritional advice and recommend any future dental treatments.

Excellence in care

The experienced dental professionals at Excellence in Dentistry are committed to delivering the highest quality dental services to our patients, and promise to provide a caring and personalised service tailored to you.
