Oral Health In Space

New space mission to last six months, Canadian Astronaut worries about oral health.

Generally when we think of space and astronauts the last thing on our mind is oral health, however it is not lost on Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, who is worried about how many toothbrushes to pack for the trip!

At Excellence in Dentistry we have never tried dental techniques in space, however on Earth we recommend changing your toothbrush every three months, or immediately after a sickness. Our suggestion to Hadfield would be too many toothbrushes are better than not enough!

General Dentistry could mean the difference between a healthy mouth and losing a tooth!

Many Australians think that because they have a healthy mouth now, they don’t have to worry as much about keeping it clean. This mind-set is why periodontal disease is so common among Australians, who neglect their oral health routines and suffer poor oral health as a result.

Neglecting your oral health means neglecting your overall health

Did you know that poor oral health has been linked to many issues within the body? At Excellence in Dentistry in Brisbane we do, and the links between poor oral health and the body have been connected to Alzheimer’s, Dementia, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and even cancer!

Maintain a good oral health routine by brushing twice daily and flossing once a day. Ensure to continue keeping appointments with us every six months so we can thoroughly examine and clean your teeth.
