The Dental Practice in Brisbane City You Will Want to Take Your Children To
When Should I start Taking My Child To The Dentist
Dentistry is not just about teeth, it’s about the health of gums, lips, inside of the mouth and growth pattern of jaw and face.
By visiting us early on, small problems can be treated before they become bot more serious and expensive to treat.
Malocclusions can be detected from the age of 2 years old and can be successfully treated to prevent costly and lengthy treatments later on.
As a rule of thumb take your child to see the dentist when you baby’s first tooth comes through or when they reach 12 months. The more times your child sees the dentist and has a positive experience, the more rapport and trust they will build with the dentist.
We understand you want your child to have a smile that lasts a lifetime!
Excellence in Dentistry believes in starting excellent oral health care early in a person’s life, so we focus on helping your kids feel comfortable with coming to the dentist, teaching them to care for the health of their teeth and preventing problems.
Your child’s visit is as special to us as yours, and together we ensure your child has the best chance for a lifetime of healthy smiles.
Keeping your child cavity free can be difficult
Teach your children how to brush and floss their teeth correctly from an early age. It is not just about brushing!
Mouth Guards For Children
Save your kids and your own precious teeth by wearing a simple mouth guard when playing sports, riding skates or even bikes, especially BMX. Be a role model for your kids and teach them to protect their teeth. Start early with personal safety gears and your kids will learn to take their safety seriously.
Mouth guard is a protective device for the mouth that covers the teeth and gums to prevent and reduce injury to the teeth, arches, lips and gums, and most often is used to prevent injury in contact sports.
One of the preventive measures to protect children’s back teeth is fissure sealants. They are a protective plastic coating, which are applied to the chewing surfaces of newly erupted molars at risk of decay. The chewing surfaces of back teeth have small grooves or fissures which often extend right down into the tooth itself.
However well the teeth are brushed, these fissures are very difficult to clean thoroughly. Bacteria and food particles stick to them and eventually cause decay. Fissure sealants completely seal off these grooves, preventing any food particles or bacteria from getting in. They do not affect the normal chewing function of teeth.
Making Oral Health Fun
Brisbane’s Excellence in dentistry believe that your child’s oral health needs to be part of their daily routine. It is vital that from an early age children learn about correct oral hygiene and the benefits that they can gain from it.
Our dental team have children of their own and understand the need to make dental hygiene fun and easy for children. Besides focusing on educating kids and their parents about the proper way to brush and floss, a comprehensive oral exam will reveal the specific dental needs of the patient and if any treatment is required.
The earlier children begin getting regular dental checkups, the healthier their mouths will stay throughout their lives!
